Purchasing Manager - Procurement Manager - Senior Buyer
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and proactive Purchasing Manager, to join a progressive and expanding organisation in the position of Purchasing Manager.
JOB TITLE: Purchasing Manager
BASIC: £35-38k, pension
LOCATION: Hampshire
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Purchasing Manager will be a key member of the site management team, and also form an integral part of the development and implementation of a global supply chain improvement initiative.
The Purchasing Manager will manage the purchasing function to meet all business demands in accordance with Company / departmental procedures and health & safety requirements.
The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:
• Identify to Materials Control Manager all problems associated MRP Purchasing actions
• Ensure MRP purchasing actions data is effectively managed
• Liaise with Engineering Department where necessary to deal with obsolescence problems
• Produce weekly report of purchasing intake value against business budget
• Prepare action plan and facilitate appropriate actions where relevant, to ensure purchasing intake meets business budgets
• Monitor actual cost of materials against budget, prepare and facilitate action plans to reduce these costs on all products
• Hold monthly vendor performance review meetings with relevant departments to ensure the following objectives are achieved by means of action plans:
a. >98% supplier on time delivery
b. >98% supplier right first time
c. Reduced number of suppliers
• Ensure defective parts are returned to suppliers in a timely fashion and where relevant a credit note is obtained
• Ensure the MAX Purchasing Module is being fully utilised
• Understand and be fully compliant with all relevant export controls and legislation and be fully conversant with the Company Export Policy
• Work effectively as an active member of the company management team.

KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Knowledge, workload and priorities
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of priorities and manage work in accordance with this.
- The ability to recognise and manage changing priorities.
- Experience of running a Purchasing function within a supply chain.
- Able to demonstrate progress through vendor management.
- Extensive experience of using an MRP I & MRPII systems and how to optimise the systems to suit differing business models
- Ability to manage supplier and communicate effectively with contacts
- Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of Export requirements

The successful candidate will ideally be degree qualified in a related subject. CIPS qualified with good understanding of supply chain function and experience in a similar role
