Description of Role and Mission:
The individual appointed in this position will be required to support the following activities, which are currently undertaken in majority by sub contract staff in the UK. These activities, as argued above, are essential in the frame of Airbus environmental improvement programme, firstly to ensure in priority compliance with relevant regulations and minimise potential financial penalties or production disruption through materials obsolescence, and secondly to maintain Airbus excellence in environmental management through the certification to external recognised standards, which is an Airbus wide objective and commitment.
- Tracking and Regular update of legislation affecting materials and processes used by Airbus UK at European and National level through interface with central corporate team and relevant authrorities
- Provide strategic advice/support on EHS issues related to the development, selection and use of materials and processes on aircraft programme (policy /directives /requirements / regulations) to internal and external stakeholders
- EHS validation of new materials and processes development and qualification. Development of tools and communicatin kits to ensure integration of EHS contraints in relvant research, design and customer services processes and documentation.
- Hazardous Materials Identification and Tracking though interface with relevant experts and the SAP based Hazardous Materials Hazardous Tracking Tool deployment team.
- Support REACH compliance and Hazardous Materials Replacement Research programmes (e.g cadmium replacement, chromates replacement etc)
Skill Profile: This role requires skills and expertise in the following areas:
Ø Relevant qualification (degree level) and/or adequate expertise in Materials Engineering , Chemistry or relevant engineering discipline (experience in aerospace sector would be a plus).
Ø Knowledge and Experience of EHS constraints in industrial environment desirable but not essential as training can be provided
Ø Excellent communication skills
Ø Ability to work in transnational teams
