Mechanical Commissioning Engineer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer required for a major UK Shipbuilder in Portsmouth. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager the candidate will be required to support the use and development of effective Commissioning to deliver agreed objectives.
The successful applicant will have proven experience in a similar role and will have the following key responsibilities:
- To carry out setting to work and commissioning on machinery and associated systems in accordance with test forms, including harbour and sea trials.
- Identify and introduce methods and equipment that will improve the commissioning and acceptance process.
- Organise and prepare commissioning documentation.
- Interpret drawings and develop test and commissioning paths.
- Conduct in process, installation, preliminary and final inspections, monitoring and formally signing off remedial action.
- Witness load testing / pressure testing.
- Support factory and goods inward inspection of bought in equipment.
- Co-ordinate inspections from Classification societies.
- Carry out regular audit of commissioning processes, maintain records to ensure documentation is correct and meets the ISO 9001 requirements.
- Demonstrate and support positive behaviours within the Commissioning team.
Role requirements.
- Experience in setting to work, test and trials and fault diagnosis is essential.
- Power and propulsion operator experience is essential.
- Experience of controls and HV would be beneficial.
- Experience of working within Shipbuilding would be beneficial.
